Many of you have shown interest in the book companion to this game. So here I have decided to include some information about this book, courtesy of Barnes & Noble.
The author, Drew Karpyshyn, has only written a few books, but the ones he has written have been excellent. Below is a list of what he has written:
Temple Hill: the Cities (a Forgotten Realms book)
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Baal ( a Forgotten Realms book)
STAR WARS Darth Bane Path of Destruction: A novel of the Old Republic
He had headed some pretty big franchises. His best book is widely considered to be Temple Hill, though the Star Wars one got rave reviews as well.

However, Mr. Karpyshyn is more widely renown for his award winning writing work with BioWare. He was Senior Writer for Knights of the Old Republic, widely known as the best Star Wars game ever made. He also served as Senior Writer for the Mass Effect game, and a team writer for Jade Empire.
As for Mass Effect: Revelations, the story takes place just before the events of the game, same as the Halo prequel book did. Some people love it, some people could care less. However, if you want a jump start on the game's deep story before the game even hits shelves on September 4th, you should pick this one up.
Below you will find a link to B&N's website which has info about the book, author, and even has a sample of the book that you can read.
