MP3.com back to supporting indie artists!

Posted by Jason Triplett Wednesday, June 21, 2006

It has been awhile since the meteoric fall of MP3.com, one of my picks for website of the decade...hell century. MP3.com got raped by the music industry for posting music downloads, and while the artists who had actually already made it big were happy, thousands of indies hoping for their shot at stardom were screwed.

MP3.com was once the hub for indie music, launching careers based on popularity. Drowning Pool for example, was an MP3.com member before their big break, and they attribute their Mp3.com fanbase to their eventual success. The power of the people is what can make or break an artist...and that forum was gone...but not forever.

MP3.com is currently Beta Testing their new personal artist page program, in which any average Joe with half a lick of talent (or none at all) can post their work for the world to see and vote on. MP3.com is on it's way back...it took forever, but it seems tht this site isn't going anywhere anytime soon!
